  1. Randy Pausch is a good speaker in spite of his situation. He talks about his illness at the beginning of his speeches but doesn’t dwell on it or use it to gain sympathy. I actually forgot about his condition while watching his presentations. This occurred because he employs all of the skills and techniques used by good public speakers. Randy includes frequent, but not gratuitous humor, which keeps the mood on the informal side. His use of visual aids and props help make his topics easier to understand. Since he is vocally dynamic, his speeches never feel like a lecture and keep the audience interested throughout. Most importantly, he offers great advice during his presentations that can positively alter a person’s attitude towards life.
